Use www.hotwire.com..no membership needed. It is an opaque site so you can not see what hotel you get until you book but they always have the cheapest prices for me and I just don't choose anything less than a 3 star so I know the hotel is good.
Well the answer is as it can, and it can't. If you decide to apply for a hotel specific credit card, like the Hilton Hhonors credit card or Starwood preferred rewards credit card, you could use that card to purchase your groceries, travel expenses, gas purchases, etc. and earned enough points where you would have free hotel stays and their hotels.
Since these hotel stays are free, you're senior citizen discount doesn't really apply. However websites like hotwire.com, Travelocity.com etc. have discounts for senior citizens, and also discounts for memberships to hotel chains, however like the other person stated, the rates are very good on these websites so getting a rate on a website like that and then using a senior citizen discount, is basically like getting two discounts and one
