Will I need a credit card to check into a hotel/motel in the US?

Will I need a credit card to check into a hotel/motel in the US?

I'm not talking five star hotels. Planning on using mostly Comfort Inns or other similarly priced motels. Will the motel require a credit card when I check in, or do they still accept good old cash?

Hotel/Motels will be glad to accept cash as payment.

You will need a credit card to reserve a room online or over the phone. when you get there you will be asked for your credit card to as security incase you decide to use any of the services offered at the hotel. (movies, phone, room service ect.)

You may be able to give them a cash deposit instead of a credit card, but I would call first.

You can also use a prepaid visa, that probably be the easiest and the safest anyway.

Yes, you can pay cash. You only need a valid credit to reserved a hotel room. But when you arrive, you can pay with cash. Hope you have an enjoy stay in the U.S.

Looks like there are some that will after doing a quick search, expect them to want a cash deposit though. I would not leave this to chance, I would research the hotel in advance.

Most places, yes! You can still book rooms with good old $$$, though. Sometimes it's better with a card in case YOU have a problem with the place your staying at!!!!! That way you can put a stop payment on transaction if you have problem with accommodations...........

They will accept cash-however, if you plan on reserving a room in advance, a credit card is required. You will also need some sort of picture ID or passport. If you have an idea of where you will be staying, call them in advance and ask what their policies are.

They will ask for a credit card for incidentals. A debit card will work, but remember they will 'authorize' a certain amount (which kind of frteezes that amount even if you pay cash and it will take 4-7 days to unfreeze.

If you do a reservation on the web, you'll have to use a cc to hold the room. Once at the hotel, you should be able to inform them that you want to pay cash and it'll be no problem. However, alot of hotels still want to hold your cc information for incidentals (but not all hotels).

As long as you have a good ID so they can track you down for stealing the towells and the little soaps and shampoos cash works real well,, Although, I had tried to stay in a Motel in Las Vegas a couple yrs ago,, they didnt take cash,, suprised the heck outta me,

cash works in most places!

They may accept cash as payment, but they'll want something to hold onto in case you might rent movies or make long distance calls.

I believe the answer is yes. Most Hotel s, Motel s wil not accept cash.

the only way you will need a credit card is if you are booking online. Otherwise they will gladly accept your cash pretty much everywhere!

Persons can pay in cash ,

But reservations are held with a credit card .

Advance reservation searches often costs less than walk in ,

Plus some places end up fully booked , no vacancy .

cash will work just fine..........

Cash will be fine, have a lovely trip =)

Hi,

If you will pay cash - you don't need any credit card.

You don't even need an ID to check in their rooms - BUT - with the chaotic terrorism, they might ask several questions and a proof of legalilty to stay specially if you are in a tourist visa.
