How to find people to hire?

i help run a motel, in pasadena california, and finding people for our front desk is very challenging. its been over 8 months before we found a legitimate person who would work for us. We tried everything from goin to local colleges and posting up posters of us looking for employees, but no one seems to care much. Does anyone know how I can find employees?

If you have a friend that is a parole officer - he should be able to recommend someone that needs a good job.

Maybe ask the pastor of your local church. Maybe there is someone in their youth group willing to work.

Have you tried to post your job listing on the internet? I think even Craig's List offers free posting of ads, and a few online job sites may allow a quick post. You may even want to stop by the local unemployment office and let them know you have a job opening available- that's also a free way to post a job, and an endless supply of unemployed people looking and needing jobs, many with qualifications, would probably apply.

I have been both an employee and an employer. I know how difficult good help is to come by. My best advice to you is that yo get what you pay for. Maybe if you paid a little more than your competitors you my get better applicants?? Just a thought.

You are probably not paying enough to attract a qualified applicant. If you offer more pay, you will attract more people who are qualified. Also, double check the working conditions. Is your motel clean and safe?

post it in the newspaper and make flyers with your phone # on them and put them around where you live. p.s. ask people to help put flyers out
