Where can I find the best discounts on hotels and motels?

I need to make cheap hotel or motel reservations in the follow destinations: Las Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, New York, Miami, London, Paris and San Francisco.

when staying in vegas I always us the hotel websites, they seem to have the best rates and if you see that the rates do go down you can call the hotel and get the better rate. as for the other cities I would try hotwire or hotels .com......good luck

I've used Priceline for Orlando, Chicago, Tampa and Miami. I do research and figure out where I want to stay and I don't go below 4 stars. THe bidding thing can be fun in a sick sort of way and I've stayed at some pretty spectacular places for really reasonable rates.

As far as Vegas is concerned, this is the only place that I would only go through the hotels' websites and that is because the prices tend to fluncuate and if you prepay the rooms, and they go down then you are SOL.
