What do i need in order to rend a hotel/motel room? read details..?

ok so my boyfriend is flying into town, hes 17. (Los Angeles, to Dallas) His parents are more than happy to rent a hotel/motel whatever for him but there not coming along on the trip. So can my boyfriend stay in a hotel room by himself? He doesnt have a credit card (his parents are paying), and cannot bring his parents credit card along on this trip. And he has a form of ID.

Most hotels have an adult only policy. What is the age of majority in Dallas?

If it is 16, there is no problem; if it is 18, they may refuse him.

It is illegal for him to use his parents card since it is not HIS card and the signature does not match.

His parents need to contact the hotel manager of the hotel he wants to stay in, and pay for the entire stay in advance if they allow him to stay without chaperone. This payment cannot be done by creditcard as these are usually charged at check-out time.

His parent's have to be there to pay for it and then they can leave!
