What is the difference between a hotel and a motel?

A motel is a "Motor Hotel," at least, originally.

Basically, a motel is one you drive to, and which generally has parking, often in front of the room (but not always). Hotels often have no parking, or are multi-level (more than 2 floors), so you cannot park near your room, even if there is parking.

Hotels tend to be fancier and more expensive (although I've stayed in some pretty awful exceptions!), and tend to be in more urban areas. Motels are often to be found in a "motel strip" at the edges of towns.

They're spelled differently and you are guaranteed a car-park with a Motel.

What makes your stay at a Hotel/Motel more memorable?

I am doing a survey for work...all answers welcomed.(nothing x-rated please).

What would make you go back to the same Hotel/Motel?

cleanliness,...

friendly staff who help quickly when I need something or have a question

decently thick ,big enough, and just plain enough towels..

TVs that work well... and don't stint on channels..

coffee in the room...

don't gouge on local phone calls - this is a big one... even with roaming on the cell... local calls...

thanks for asking

For business, since I may spend most of the evening in the hotel (most of my coworkers aren't big on doing anything beyond dinner), I look for a place that is roomy and comfortable, has a desk and provides high speed internet access. Also, a coffee maker with tea supplies.

For vacation, if I'm staying there a while, I'd like a fridge that I can use. I don't need a desk, but I'd like a fairly tasteful room and no funky smells!

Also, noise level is important. I stayed in a courtyard hotel, and when you stepped outside your room and up to the "balcony", you could look down to the lobby as well as look across, up and down to the other hotel rooms. Well, that means that I can hear a door slam on the 9th floor even if i'm on the 2nd floor.

If the staff/concierge is helpful in recommending places to eat or making reservations - big plus.

When I arrive and see there is a newspaper from my hometown on the bed.

if the place is clean, not too pricey, the staff are accomodating,

Convenient to get to from the Interstate, quiet, clean and a decent breakfast... otherwise, I could not care less.

other than cleanliness, good customer service

Who you go with and what you did there.

When we feel the love in this old memories, we want to feel it again somehow.

Of course.. the environment must be great too

The staffs..are they friendly? or just wanting tips

A friendly person at the check in desk, the room getting made on time, nice lounges.

I'm looking for a motel that costs about 10 to 20 dollars a night?

If so, what is the name of it?

Cheapest place to stay in the US are the few hostels provided by http://www.hiusa.org/ Their going rate seems to be between 18 and 25 USD per night and person.

In Asia or Africa it is however perfectly possible to find a hotel for less than 5 USD per night. (I paid 3 USD per night for a hotel room in Luxor, Egypt.)

Good luck,Even a dump is considerably more. You could try a homeless shelter.

I haven't found a motel under about 85/night in something like 20 years! Anywhere! If you found such a place, would you really stay there? I would be worried about security, and filth.

not a reality sorry

There are a few hotels in Las Vegas that go close to that cheap in off-peak periods, maybe $30-$40 / night. First one that comes to mind is the Gold Spike. It's a little run down, but the rooms are impeccably clean!

I have a shed in my back yard, no charge..your welcome.

What is the best hotel/motel/b&b in California with a quiet beach? Distance is of no importance!?

There is always the old Classic, The Mirramar in San Diego. Right on the beach and the architecture is world famous. There is a ghost thrown in for fun and the food is wonderful.

Drop south of the border and try The Rosarito Beach Hotel, another classic built as a casino originally by Al Capone.

Lots of small hotels along the coast in Baja between San Diego and Ensenada and nice secluded beaches. Great food too.

Or.. Shoot for a Cottage at Crystal Cove State Park. A really great beach with remodeled homes that were private until recently.

Have fun!

Is it customary to tip the maid at a motel?

I frequently stay in motels (cheap ones, like Motel 6). My parents taught me to leave a dollar or two as a tip for the maid when I leave ($1 or $2 for each night, leaving it all at once when I leave). However, no one else I've asked has ever done this. Am I wasting my money, or am I supposed to leave a small tip?

Leave a tip. Brighten their day. Help someone believe in the goodness of humanity. Remember, cheaper motels are paying the help less and having them work harder.

We usually stay in hotels and we always tip the housekeeping staff. I can't imagine that cleaning up after people in a hotel is any different than cleaning up after people in a motel.

i have never tipped a maid cash. i have never thought to do so since they make decent money and sometimes the rooms arent that clean.

Yes, you should leave a tip, but do it each day in an envelope that says "For the maid." The person who cleans your room on the last day of your stay may not be the same person that cleaned it on the first day of your stay, and you'll want to make sure that the correct person gets the tip!

absolutely

yes at least 50p

yes

If you get good service, yes you leave a tip, generally 1-5 dollars per night. The cleaning staff don't make alot of money, usually minimum wage. You also might write a small note at the end of your stay , thanking them for everything they've done for you. Just because it is not a fancy smanchy hotel, doesn't mean you get to be a cheapskate. Your parents raised you well, continue leaving a tip. As to your friends, well it's how they were raised not you.

I think leaving a small tip is a great thing to do. Normally I do when outside of the country and where wages are very low. If your one of those peeps that leave a mess or party mess, then tipping is a yes!! Otherwise, just put yourself in his/her shoes and think of how it would make your day if a few left a tip for you.

Anyone who works hard and makes your experience better deserves a pat on the back, thanks, or a tip.

:P

It's a nice gesture. I do it daily though - the same staff doesn't work every day.

no

I leave $5 usually

If you wan but I would not do it.. No one tips me at work so why should I???

we always do ... and if we're staying more than one night, I tip each night, just in case I've had two different maids. They don't make much money, and have to clean up after some TOTAL slobs, so I feel they deserve it.

Its not wasting your money. I doubt that the housekeeping gets paid much, so tips are great. Ive heard that you are supposed to do it, but like you, most everyone i know doesnt do it. If you want to, then definitely DO.

you can. Its all up to you. Maids make minimum wage, but they also have to make up and clean at least 6 rooms an hour. So thats a lot of running. I would only do it if its severly dirty. Trust me Maids love it when they get tips.

It is nice to leave tip the the hotel maids. I all ways leave few dollars. I don't think they make a lot of money.

My husband and I generally tip $2-5/day when we stay at a hotel, more if for some reason the level of service we needed was higher.

I know that a lot of people don't tip, but I'm not responsible for a lot of people. I'm responsible for me, and I tip.

No, you're supposed to leave a small tip whenever you stay somewhere.

Leave a tip. They don't make much money, and have to do some hard labor, changing your bed sheets, towels, cleaning up, etc etc. I'm sure they must get tired after doing that for a whole day. It's always better to be generous than to be stingy.

um it is nice i am sure the maid appreciates it but I would only do it at more high class hotels.

Can anyone tell me a CHEAP motel and car rental in Atlanta Georgia?

Hi, I am in need of a CHEAP but nice motel room and Inexpensive car rental in Atlanta Georgia. Can anyone recommend anywhere? The last time I went away I went to a super 8 and found cat poop on the floor. :) Thank you in advance.

It really depends on what part of town you will be in and where you are going in Atlanta. As for car rentals, the cheapest area to get one is at the airport. You can also find some decent cheap hotels down there by the airport also. The best bet, also just like any other major city, is to stay in hotels away from the downtown area and any tourist places. A good alternative is to stay at a place in Decatur, where you can take surface roads rather than the freeways (or parking lots, depending on the time of day) to save time. Red Roof Inn's are good places to stay for cheap. They have them all over Atlanta.

Is there an outstanding budget hotel/motel to stay at while traveling through Death Valley CA?

My fiance and I are driving from San Frsansisco to Las vegas next month and are planning to stop over in Death Valley. Do you know a great low cost hotel/motel to stay at over night in the area to take a good look around the local area ?

There are no budget hotels/motels in Death Valley. Cheapest place, which isn't really very cheap, is Furnace Creek Ranch. It is less expensive than the adjacent Furnace Creek Inn. Furnace Creek is pretty centrally located and there are services on-site. That would be my top recommendation if you are just stopping over and want to take in some of the main sights.

Outside Death Valley, there are budget places to stay in Ridgecrest, CA (I've stayed at the Motel 6 for about $40 a night), and a weird/strange semi abandoned motel called the Amargosa by Death Valley Junction which is about an hour outside of the park. I've driven past it and I wouldn't be comfortable there but maybe you would.

It will be stinking hot that time of year; you might be interested in the mountains in the southern part of the park or visit the other sites really really early in the morning. Death Valley is a really big place; takes hours to cross in a car. I'd really advise returning to Death Valley after the weather cools down a bit in the late fall if you want to really explore the place.

What is the cheapest hotel/motel near New Orleans - will drive outside of city - looking for $25 range?

I want to travel to new orleans in June, but im limited by budget. I will drive outside of the city to find a cheap hotel. i would prefer something like $25 a night. i always see signs for hotels that cheap when im driving, but i cant find it online. please help!

I don't think you will find a hotel or motel for $25/night in or around New Orleans.

However, the India House Hostel should fit your budget:

http://www.indiahousehostel.com/

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60864-d288642-r7551628-India_House_Hostel-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html

Note that almost all of the negative reviews are from people who stayed at India House during the year after Katrina. The hostel was flooded by the storm and probably should not have re-opened until the repairs were complete

Motel 6, is still a bargain. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080420072722AAksN41&kid=B5dLOm_hLWd8C0lI.l8v&s=comm&date=2008-04-22+10%3A54%3A50&.crumb=

$75 to $99 is more like it.

you can sleep in a tent for $25

they will be sold out around jazz fest etc.

and they sometimes require 3 night reservations.

From I-10 take Exit 223A Williams Boulevard (Louisiana 49). Go south on Williams Boulevard to end (Louisiana 48 / Jefferson Highway), turn left 0.75 mile to KOA on left.

Try a motel 6, but $25 a night is not going to get you anything but a fleabag. At least at a motel 6 your room will be clean, basic and comfortable, but it will be more then $25 a night. Spend more on your room and less on partying. You can have a good time in new Orleans with very little money.

I saw one in Gentilly for $25 a night a year ago. It may have been Knights Inn. It was a real 1 star dump. You may be better off sleeping in your car.

About $50 a night is more like it. For $25 a night you wouldn't want to use the bed or bathroom. Yuck.

I don't think you would find any that cheap.

Motel in Cleveland with minimum check in age of 18?

both of us are 18. we have a credit card. low budget so we're looking for inexpensive. thanks.

we tried motel 6 but they say their check in age is 21.

Try Days Inn on Brookpark Road (or any other Days Inn).

Don't call and ask what they check-in age is, just show up with your id and credit card. There shouldn't be a problem

What is the difference between a hotel and a motel?

Hotel, bigger, possibly has restaurants, gift shop, workout or exercise room and other services

Motel is a place to sleep or have sex if you are lucky with a partner

A hotel is where you go for full service...i.e. room service, bellman, restaurant, exercise rooms, pool etc...

A motel is where you go for a night or two without all the frills....usually cheap or sleazy....vibrating bed, creepy people sleeping next door to you...possible axe murderer!

Hotel is usually a bigger company and a little classier than a motel. It's also usually more expensive.

originally, motels were all one level and a hotel was 2 or more floors

Class pure and simple also amenities. I loathe Motels. Hotels it is for me...Enclosed as well..none of this outdoor motor lodge shite for me.

I need to find a motel/hotel near "Gyeoungbuk Gyeoungju Si Chunghyo Dong - any suggestions?

I don't know what part of the address is the city. I just send packages. clean, moderately priced, allows smoking (I'm one of those) and kitchenette. Aug 11 - 27/2007. e-mail margefurber@yahoo.com

I'm not sure if this will help you. I'm unfamiliar with the city areas. I stayed at this place. I figured since it's in Gyeong ju it might be close to here.

Seo-Cheon Guest House

(They speak English there also)

171-9 Reseo Dong Gyeong Ju City

phone number (054)772-1631, 777-4097

e-mail Eui9882@yahoo.co.kr

I'm just writing from a business card they gave me. I have the cell phone as well but I don't want to post that information here. This is a backpacker place it does have a small kitchen and you can also smoke (I smoke also) right outside the door.

Here are the prices as well

15,000 Won Bedroom common shower

20,000 Won Bedroom private bath

Very cheap. I'm not sure if it will be close enough to the place you want to stay at.

Where can I find the best rates on hotels in Las Vegas between june 18-24?

I am attending a tournament at the Riviera and need a motel or hotel that is more affordable than the Riviera but still close by.

http://casinotripreports.com/vegas/?cat=5

i have always found some pretty good prices at www.lasvegas.com

I always use Hotwire.com

Good Luck

If you want to stay in a budget hotel, then hotel in the downtown will be more affordable. You will still get access to the casinos in hotel located in downtown, and traveling to the strip is easily accessible with buses that operate 24/7. The bus ride costs only $2 per trip.

How can i reduce fix cost in a motel?

it's for my assignment and i've never done finance!

Do you understand what fixed costs are? They are costs that are steady from month to month. Examples are wages, mortgage payments, insurance fees, etc. If you can reduce any of these, you will be reducing fixed costs.

What do i need in order to rend a hotel/motel room? read details..?

ok so my boyfriend is flying into town, hes 17. (Los Angeles, to Dallas) His parents are more than happy to rent a hotel/motel whatever for him but there not coming along on the trip. So can my boyfriend stay in a hotel room by himself? He doesnt have a credit card (his parents are paying), and cannot bring his parents credit card along on this trip. And he has a form of ID.

Most hotels have an adult only policy. What is the age of majority in Dallas?

If it is 16, there is no problem; if it is 18, they may refuse him.

It is illegal for him to use his parents card since it is not HIS card and the signature does not match.

His parents need to contact the hotel manager of the hotel he wants to stay in, and pay for the entire stay in advance if they allow him to stay without chaperone. This payment cannot be done by creditcard as these are usually charged at check-out time.

His parent's have to be there to pay for it and then they can leave!

What is the origin of the phrase 'hotel motel', meaning bisexual?

they sound the same but are essentially different, like the phrase ' he doesn't know if he Darren or Sharon'.

Can an 18 yr old rent a motel room? or is the age requirement 21?

The requirement is 21, but there are some rink-e-dink little shack motels that will rent to 18 year olds.

Depends on the state law and the local hotel's policy. Typically a hotel will not rent to anyone under 21 unless the are active military or > 150 miles from the home address on their state issued ID.

In other words, if you are looking to go to hotel in your home town to have a party, you are waisting your money. You will get evicted and possibly thrown in jail. Hotels are for overnight sleeping, not parties.

Please let me know if you have any questions ... but basically I would recommend that you call the hotel you are considering and ask what their policy is.

*** PS... It's still difficult to answer your question as I know you are going to SoCal .. but from where ??? You need to plan your trip in advance and talk directly to the front desk at the hotels you will be staying to determine their requirements. You will need a credit card that will authorize for the amt of room and tax times the number of nights you are staying plus add about $50 for incidentals ... for each hotel .. Hope this helps.

I did at 18. But it was such a dive hotel. I went there with my gf and her two friends to get drunk. we were all 18. We had to pay cash. I was pretty sure there was a dead hooker under the bed.

You can at 21. I had to when I was 16.

Edit: Should not be a problem. I rented rooms several times when in college in So Ca.

You don't need a motel room.

You have to be of age and have a credit card.

If you're 18 then your a legal adult so I think you can. What are you planning to do? lol

if its the Uk - then any age as long as u got the cash.

If it's the Us - who knows? are u trusted to have your own room at 27?

in canada you can if you're 18

PROSTITUTIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Nooooooooooooooo

yeah u can rent one at 18

people don't have sex in cars anymore?

idk where u live but in washingtonu hve to be 21

Has anyone ever stayed at the Seacrest Motel in Port Orford, Oregon? How was it?

Any info would be appreciated. Also, what other hotels have you stayed at if you have visited the Oregon Coast? Thanks!

I think the rooms are fairly plain but neat and clean.

The rates are reasonable for beachfront.

It is the views that are stunning, and make the Sea Crest worthwhile.

You only sleep in them anyhow.

For what you can do while staying on the OR south coast:

http://seacrestoregon.com/locallinks.html

We usually stay in the most reasonably priced accommodation we can find everywhere we travel, (often Motel 6).

We prefer to spend our money on attractions and nice restaurants.

I have found this site for you to look at, it is Oregon's south coast Hotels and Motels.

Divided into towns:

http://www.all-oregon.com/hotels/south_coast.htm

When I stayed there last winter (November, for Thanksgiving) with my family we never had a problem. Other than the unlucky rain we ran into while we were there the Hotel was very clean and courteous to us.

Yes! However, it was some years ago, my ex and I honeymooned there and spent every anniversary there for over a dozen years. We also used to stay at a motel in Bandon, but it isn't there anymore. As previously stated, rooms were clean and nothing fancy, but the view was spectacular!

For the past ten years we take our lodging with us, lol, RV, so can't help there, sorry.

One of my favorite towns to stay is Yachats (YAW-hots) just north of Florence, it too is very picturesque.

For pure beauty and ruggedness you cannot beat the central and southern Oregon Coast!

Would you be able to sleep in a room that has cockroaches eg motel room?

would you be able to fall asleep, WITHOUT medication ?

not at all ! i would swich motels ! or sleep in the car!

As long as it isn't on the bed and the bed itself is clean, yes.

The fact is that many of our homes have bugs within our walls. Bugs are in our food, cereal, etc. They're there, but most of the time we can't see them. They aren't harmful either.

No! We once had to stay in a cheap motel room because our bus ride back home was cancelled and my husband and I agreed on taking turns but even that way we couldn't get any sleep...It was so nasty...yuk.

If I were to sleep in that room, I'd ask to change rooms. But I would NEVER sleep in some cheapo motel.

HELL NO!!!

Can you suggest a cheap gay friendly motel or hotel in Denver?

I'm coming to Denver for a few weeks and need a cheap place to stay. I know there are dozens of cheap motels in Denver--are any of them gay friendly? Sleazy is okay; I'll feel right at home.

Colfax Avenue, both east and west, is the main drag through Denver (no pun intended) and has a lovely selection of lower-priced accommodations. I have no idea about whether they're gay-friendly or the sleaze factor... I'll let you determine that!

Try this website:

I don't know any.

Its called the Pole Smoker Inn just off the Hershey Highway.

I am taking my daughter to school and we have to spend the night there. So we need a motel or Hotel.

Town & Country Motel, W Route 316, Charleston, IL 61920, (217-345-3951)

Varsity Inn, 415 W Lincoln Ave, Charleston, IL 61920, (217-348-8882)

Just looking for a nice, cheap hotel/motel in Santa Cruz, CA. Cannot find anything below $170/night.?

When are you looking to go? That will affect your price...

Either way, head over to http://www.resideo.com/us/california/santacruz/ and click the "Check Availability" button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then sort the results by price -- that'll put the cheapest places first.

You can then read about each hotel, view pics and book online.

It should do a pretty wide search, so it might find a few places on the outskirts that are below your limit.

Good luck!

Try Roadway inn or Econolodge. Avoid weekends. The monday through Friday prices are much MUCH lower, like $50 a night.

Unfortunately, it's high season, so all places raise their prices.

You might consider staying outside of Santa Cruz proper.

Also, here's a list of SC motels with a variety of prices:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/AllLocations-g33048-c1-Hotels-Santa_Cruz_California.html

I cant believe you cant find something for less than that. Perhaps you are looking for five star at a two star price. I lived in Santa Cruz for a year. There are some areas of town where you should be able to get a deal. Make sure you catch a show at the Catalyst.

Does anyone knows a very affordable motel in Austin, Tx?

I am looking for something in the range of 250-300 per week (I am planning on staying there for 3-4 weeks). I checked Studio 6 and their weekly rates are something like $370 per week and I have a tight budget. Thanks

Don't know what area you are looking at (big city) but downtown my favorite spot was the La Quinta. Got a little studio efficiency for $70 or so last time there and it was central to what I needed. (College, Convention Center and 5th street).

There are loads of cheap places though like HoJo's Super 8 (also downtown) Motel 6 all for around 50- 60 but I've never stayed there. I had really good luck with the La Quinta so just stuck with it each time.

Here are a couple

Super 8

Extended Stay

Homestead Inn

Drury Inn

Red Roof

When visiting sea world and universal studios wht motel do you stay in?

Ma and my family are going on a vacation soon and we would like to know how far away sea world and universal studios are from each other and a good motel to stay in where we can bring our two little dogs with us

if anyone can give me some advice it would be much appreciated

thanks :)

Many people enjoy staying at the Universal Resorts on site because they give you unlimited Front of the Line access from your check-in day through the end of your check-out day. All three of the hotels are also pet friendly.

I've personally stayed at the Best Western Movieland which is right on the corner of Universal and I-Drive, it's about a mile away from the park so it's walkable (although it's all uphill going to the park) and across the street from the Wet n Wild water park. It's also pet friendly to my understanding.

More pet friendly hotels in Orlando: http://hotels.about.com/od/orlandopets/Orlando_Hotels_Pet_Friendly.htm

I'm not sure if any hotels would allow pets. But Motel 6 on the intersection of I-drive & Universal Blvd is very close to Universal Studios. You could see the rides that are high up.

As for SeaWorld, it's right down the road on I-4 or you could just take International Drive all the way down and you'll see it on the right.

There are other hotels around the Motel 6 that you might find of better quality but every time that I've stayed in this Motel, it's always clean and quiet.

The parks are about 3-4 miles apart.

I am not sure of any motels that take dogs, but i know there are some.

Good Luck, and Have Fun!!!

What is the difference between a motel and a hotel?

Wow...I liked the other answers....I always thought that Motel was like your typical 60 dollar a night and Hotel were the ones that cost like 300+ a night..Silly me!!!

A motel is one that you use whilst driving, originally a 'motor hotel' and was meant to be used by travellers, usually for one or two nights. A hotel is generally situated in the middle of town and meant for longer stays possibly whilst on holiday.

Motels are meant to accommodate people who arrive by car, so there is a parking space for each room, usually right outside the door of the room or at least nearby. The doors to the rooms open to the outdoors. In hotels, you enter the building through a lobby, and the room doors open onto corridors inside the building. Price has nothing to do with what the place is called, though generally motels are cheaper since they cater to people who are just passing through and don't offer the same facilities as hotels which often include pools, restaurants, room service, laundry service, and large rooms for gatherings.

Motels are usually cheaper, smaller, only one or two stories, and aren't in a chain. So "The Mom and Pop Inn", for example is a motel. "The Holiday Inn" is a Hotel. It is rated (like a four star hotel) it's big, it's well known, they serve breakfast, they have maids, etc. You get the idea!

Whether a motel is of the typical courtyard variety or a building that looks like any hotel, the key difference is that a motel will have a parking space for each one of its rooms. Hotels typically have far fewer.

Motel is short for motor hotel. The difference between the two, is that you can drive directly to your door at a motel. At a hotel, you must enter the building to access your room door. Some motels now have two of more floors, but the doors are still on the outside of the building. Definitions:

So, you see, the difference is in the parking arrangement. Motels were developed to accomodate the increase in travel by car.

We are looking for a motel or b & b in the eastern amish area of Ohio?

We would like to have a suite with an inroom jacuzzi, luxury bath and an indoor pool. Traveling in mid April. Package deal would be nice also.

if you have a Sam's club card and you go to samsclub.com then in the search bar type travel, look for a hotel combo, like hotel and flight or hotel and car or even all three, when you're ready to finalize everything, it will ask if you have a promo code, type PLUS09 (

What is the best hotel/motel/b&b in California with a quiet beach?

California has over 800 miles of coastline. You're going to have to narrow down what specific part of it you are interested in.

What is the difference between a hotel and a motel?

I don't know if this is true or not, but this is how I see it. In a motel the rooms are on the outside. In a hotel, the rooms are all inside. Does that make sense?

A motel is a motel becuse of the number of rooms it has. Hotels have many more rooms. I don't know the differenece of rooms a motel has and a hotel has. For example if a motel can have a moximum of 30 rooms, if it has any more than 30 rooms than it is hotel. I'm not sure if there is a law about it or enforcing it but I've read a lot about it.

Also there is the price difference and the services you receive. In hotels it's becomes a standard thing to have breakfast brought to your room of you order it and and you get room service evryday at 11.30.

If the building looks like it is standing up it is a hotel, if it looks like it is laying down it is a motel.

Location of each and the price of each, hotel will always be higher then a motel.

Hotels are bigger, have more rooms, and are much more expensive. Most motels are not cheap, they are smaller, and they have less rooms. Hotels usually serve a nice and hot breakfast. Motels serve Continental breakfast. That is the difference between an motel and hotel.

HOTEL: An establishment that provides lodging and usually meals and other services for travelers and other paying guests.

MOTEL: An establishment that provides lodging for motorists in rooms usually having direct access to an open parking area. Also called motor court, motor lodge.

Hotel is bigger, your room door is inside and harder for you to park your car, that's why most of them need a parkingman service. Motel always has a place for you to park your car. Prices is the key difference here!

motels usually don't serve food. generally, hotels are bigger, and better coz they have more amenities.

hotels are expensive motels are cheap

hotels are bigger

A motel has rooms with a door to the outside. Hotel doesn't

originally, you drove to your room in a motel. Now, I suppose its the amenities (restaurant, etc.)

Whats the diffrence between a Hotel and a Motel?

I really want to know the best answer wins that has a lot of info on it please help me!!!

Motels usually have the room entrances on the parking lot, street or a breezeway/courtyard. They are often on higher-traffic areas such as interstates, which makes them very convenient. If you're on a long drive, you just jump off of the highway and you're right there.

Hotels usually have one or two public entrances to the entire hotel; to access the rooms, you have to go through the shared lobby and usually up in an elevator to the room.

Hotels tend to be many stories high while motels usually are only two or three levels at the maximum.

Hotels tend to offer additional services depending on the price range; there is usually a restaurant onsite or very close (like the Days Inns that have a Denny's connected to the hotel). There is also usually a bar, and room service; many have fitness rooms, business centers where you can use their computer or your own, Internet access in the rooms.

Motels tend to be more basic; if there is a shared area like a lobby in a motel, it's probably not going to be very large or fancy but in a hotel, the lobby is usually quite large and nicely decorated. Either a hotel or a motel may have a pool-- my experience is this depends more on the city you are visiting than the price range. In Florida, everywhere has a pool but in Boston, not too many!

Hotels tend to cost more than motels. But you get more services than in motels--- you usually get the little travel-size bottles of shampoo so you don't have to bring your own, a hair dryer, an iron, etc, plus there is staff who can bring you another towel or pillow or whatever you need. That level of service is uncommon in motels. Also many hotels offer shuttles so if you are flying in, or staying for more than one day and want to see the attractions, you can take the shuttle and not have to pay for a cab. Hotels tend to have better security so if you are travelling alone, you may want to factor this in.

A hotel usually has more rooms,a pool, etc. Motels are usually one story complexs that are more for a place to sleep.

The $$$$$$

"Motels" were originally "motor hotels" because they catered to people traveling by car.

I think I agree with mynameischee.(2points)

Hotel are more in town and motel are more out of town plus different amount of payment. Hotels cost more.

it depends on where you travel, in the US a motel is usually an overnight place, a room with a shower and nothing too much more, a hotel you have a nice room with bath and restaurant, pool, and other extra's, in europe we don't really have motels, we would call them bed and breakfast, all you get is a room, usually you have to share the bathroom in the hallway outside your room and you will have breakfast downstairs at a bar or in someones home, the biggest difference is the price.

Besides the logical three reasons:

1) Size

2) Level of Service

3) Brand Prestige

...there's perhaps a more important fourth reason:

4) Clientele and/or nature of client stay

Specifically regarding 4), a motel's clientele or reason for staying may be specifically for secular reasons, i.e., "quickies" or just crashing at some place before travelling the last lag of a cross country drive. Thus, a motel is merely "functional".

A hotel tends to serve both a functional and "self-esteem" needs. The customers at a hotel often stay there for business and/or pleasure, and thus need to feel important by staying at a nicer looking place.

Required age to be able to check into a hotel/motel alone. and do they accept cash?

how old do you have to be before you check into a hotel/motel alone like super 8 or similar... and would they accept cash? thanks

It's usually 18 but some hotels require you to be 21. And yes, they accept cash.

Yea.. It depends on the hotel regarding age.

But most places will still require a credit-card, even though you're paying in cash. It's in case you accidentally put your foot through the sheet-rock, or steal the towels, or remote from the tv.

16 or 21 it depends on the hotel or motel you go to and yes they take cash!!!

holiday inn or some where else!!!!

How much does it cost to rent a motel room for a couple of hours?

Same as it cost to rent that same room for a whole night.

Some airport hotels have half-day rates. You do not get full service. It's for people who just need to rest and take a shower while in transit. Airlines sometimes use them for passengers or staff when there's an unexpected long delay.

I bet your mom knows....ask her.

Usually the same as all night (unless you're in a 'red light' district where they sometimes have rooms by the hour for the prostitutes).

I rented one once and they charged me for a full "nights" stay.

ummm some people are wrong where im from which is ga we can rent the like 3 hrs for 15 dollars...so down here we dont have to stay the whole night

GO ON THERE WEBSITES. They usually charge you for one night.

Why you need that? LMAO

I guess it is decided by where you want to go.But, If you are not careful, it can cost much more then just the price of the room. I hope I am wrong but sounds like you need to also check the price of condomes, maybe treatment prices for STDs. maybe even child support. Just be careful. If you don't know the person you are going there with real well. it could even cost you your life.

omfg......

lmao

this is a horrible question to spread over the internet just got ask the hotel ppl

just ask Jeeves. He would know. lol

normally it's pro-rated but there will be a flat fee for the maid service/changing the sheets

Same as it costs for the whole night.

haha nice question, don't be so bloody cheap!

Why, you married?

Or a couple of minutes in your case, juan. HEYOH!

they charge by the night unless they are really really really tacky enough to have a "few hours" rate lol

The same as it would cost for the entire night. Unless you are at a pay by the hour "No Tell Motel"

they are still going to charge for a whole day. if you go to the gas station and ask to buy a cigarette do you think they will sell you just one

most charge by the night no matter if you stay 1hr or 24hrs.

How to find people to hire?

i help run a motel, in pasadena california, and finding people for our front desk is very challenging. its been over 8 months before we found a legitimate person who would work for us. We tried everything from goin to local colleges and posting up posters of us looking for employees, but no one seems to care much. Does anyone know how I can find employees?

If you have a friend that is a parole officer - he should be able to recommend someone that needs a good job.

Maybe ask the pastor of your local church. Maybe there is someone in their youth group willing to work.

website

Have you tried to post your job listing on the internet? I think even Craig's List offers free posting of ads, and a few online job sites may allow a quick post. You may even want to stop by the local unemployment office and let them know you have a job opening available- that's also a free way to post a job, and an endless supply of unemployed people looking and needing jobs, many with qualifications, would probably apply.

I have been both an employee and an employer. I know how difficult good help is to come by. My best advice to you is that yo get what you pay for. Maybe if you paid a little more than your competitors you my get better applicants?? Just a thought.

You are probably not paying enough to attract a qualified applicant. If you offer more pay, you will attract more people who are qualified. Also, double check the working conditions. Is your motel clean and safe?

post it in the newspaper and make flyers with your phone # on them and put them around where you live. p.s. ask people to help put flyers out

I'm looking for the cheapest monthly motel rate in St augustine florida, need a cheap place to stay for a while?

I'm in a bad situation where I'm living, need a place to stay for a month or so until I can get on my feet myself.

Go to yahoo travel under hotels and put in for the area ... they give you rates and distances (sometimes going out a little further from the exact town gets a lower rate ... it also listed whether to check orbitz, priceline, or any of the other discount places for prices - just did this for a friend who's looking to visit Ft Lauderdale and Tampa in April/May. It was also helpful because yahoo users can put their input on the hotels. And always ask if they can give you a better discount for extended stay - a lot of times they can discount a little more. The best of luck to you

try the extended stay hotels. They are designed for longer stays and are probably a bit cheaper.

In No Country for Old Men, how did the Mexicans find Llewelyn Moss' (Josh Brolin) first motel room?

It's never fully explained, but that's part of the style of the story. They never explain how the Woody Harrelson character finds him in the hospital either.

I think this lack of information is intentional, as it suggests that the Mexicans (and Harrelson) are really good at hunting down people who don't want to be found.

Honestly I have no idea ... I thoght that ending made no frigging sense what so ever ... I think according to the book there was some sort of symbolism involved which makes no sense not to show that symbolism in the movie and expect everyone to understand that crappy ending

Three Mexicans were following his wife and mother-in-law...and one of the Mexicans in the suit asked his mother-in-law which bus they are taking ...she says they are going to El Paso...the Mexican says "I know El Paso, where are you staying ?" ... the dialog ends here, but of course according to the plan they were going to meet Llewelyn Moss at some El Paso motel, which the mother-in-law was aware of...and has very probably disclosed its name to the Mexican...

Can I use a Paypal Debit Card for a Super 8 Motel Room?

I just turned 18 and will soon be going on a trip which will require the use of a motel (Super 8). I don't have a credit card and I was wondering if I can use a Paypal Debit card to book a motel? Can I pay in cash and give them the card in case of damage/phone calls (wont happen but that's why they need the card, right?)

I am not sure about this, but I don't think you can do that. Your best option is to call the motel and ask about their requirements. What they may ask you to do is to make a cash deposit of $200 or $300 in case of damage, and it will be returned when you are checking out.

What is the best hotel/motel to stay in Seaside Oregon?

I am a 10 year old stuck in a 60 year old body. I am a big fan of beaches and amusement parks. I like to visit as many as possible, so please help.

Thanks

If you are going during nice weather I suggest camping instead! Seaside has lost some of its special character due to all the building.....Shilo has been there for quite a few years but it's facing the ocean and probably alot less than the condos that are brand spaken new next to it.....Take a look at this link for more info on hotles rated by epople who have stayed at them. Have a great time. The Oregon/Wa coast are GORGEOUS!

take the hotel closest to the center of town...(try to find the noisiest one) don't plan on getting any sleep....And go to the

bumper cars,tilt-a-whirls,the carousel,the arcade,the aquarium,

right when they open up in the morning........trust me,i AM a 10 year old....and I've been there before..

What city are you in? I am in Panama City Florida, a 42 year old stuck in a 17 year old mind lol. Have you found any good beaches yet? Are you close to the beach. Do you travel much? I traveled all my life with my father. Camped and did a lot of highway miles! What beaches have you seen so far?

There is a Holiday Inn Express Suites on Holladay.

trendwest resort they just finished building. Its right on the prom and near the arcade and right on the beach.

Motel close to Disney World, check-in over 18?

I am planning on going to Disney World for spring break and I am trying to find a cheap motel off grounds. My main problem is that I am only 20 and I'm having trouble finding a motel that will check-in over 18. Please help! ASAP

Prices can vary depending on the time of year, but there are plenty of places to choose from.

I did a quote for the end of February, and found the following:

Travelodge Maingate Suites - $50/night (no minimum age listed)

Howard Johnson of Kissimmee - $45/night (min age: 18)

Legacy Grand - $40/night (min age: 18)

Head over to http://www.resideo.com/us/florida/kissimmee/ and click the "Check Availability" button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then sort the results by price -- that'll put the cheapest places first.

Hope that helps!

How much are you wanting to spend a night? This will help me, to help you! :)

Which Canadian store can I buy Black Flag Fly Motel?

This product seems to be available in the US only. I'd like to purchase this without having to pay shipping costs that are 10 times more than the product itself!

Seems to me that I saw Blag Flag products at Canadian Tire and also at Wal Mart. Check out their websites before you make the trip there though.

Which is better - extended stay motel with all bills paid or an apartment?

I like the idea of the extended stay motel... Will it be less expensive for one individual with an income of $1200/ month?

This is in the Dallas Area...

Personally, I'd get an apartment. I was on apartments.com for Dallas & $400 a month is pretty decent compared to what I'm paying.

An apartment may cost a little more, but it's more of a permanent place on where you can stay. Even if the motel seems to cost less, but have you added tax to the bill? You can't cook in a motel, there's not much privacy, there's no refrigerator for food, there's no washer and dryer within the motel, there's no permanent parking....

Well how much are they asking for rent per week or month @ the motel Is it nice is it clean will u have a microwave and a small fridge what are the accommodations @the motel. I think most likely and apartment with all the bills and the rent&lets not 4get cable and ur phone bill will cost alot and if u can afford all those things u will be having to do something else on the side to earn extra money to make ends meet that will take away from school and what ever else u spend ur day doing so if the price is right I'd move to the extended stay motel pluss singel people with busy live's deserve a house keeper lol and @the motel every day u can come home to a clean house

The motel fees can change due to season or vacancy. You might want to see about renting a room. At least then, you would have roommates to pay a portion of the rent and bills.

Extended stay motels ... can really add up ... get an apartment if you want to save money ... unless you know of a place that;'s really cheap ... I needed to spend a few moths in an extended stay ... wished I could've found a shortterm apartment

Manufacturing companys-How do I find them. I want to sell from my web site. How do I find any thing.?

I am trying to cut out the middle man so I can sell cheap products. With every body wanting a cut, there is no way. I understand I may have to buy in bulk. Example-Roach motels are awsome. They work good. I just paid $4.00 for 2. Thats outrageous since its usally the poor areas with roach problems. Mainly. I want to know how I can get that glue and bait to make my own. Who manufactures that glue and bait?

I use a company that takes all the orders and handles all the inventory for me. They pay at a variety of levels depending on the products offered as you would be an affiliate. Examples of products include: Health/Nutrition, Books/Magazines and Pet Care Products. There are many others, so check it out if you are interested.

you can use this site :

www.google.com

it is one of the best searching engines you just type anything that you want to look up and you will get it .

Where can i find a nice clean and reasonable priced hotel/motel in wildwood,nj . please help!!!!!!!!!!?

Head over to http://www.resideo.com/us/newjersey/wildwood and click the "Check Availability" button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then sort the results by price -- that'll put the cheapest places first.

You can then read about each hotel, view pics & book online.

Good luck!
